“Sara, are those your feet?” my friend asked. “Why, yes they are,” I said proudly. I was looking fondly at the very first Pinterest Idea Pin I created as a wellness coach. My friend was looking at it and shaking her head. You see, I’m a private kind of gal, and showing my face on the intranet for all to see filled me with dread. A grounding foot stretch routine seemed the perfect solution to my dilemma. I could let the world see my feet, I rationalized, without having to show me. And that, my friends, was a problem because having an online business means we need to make connections.
Why Your Kajabi Clients Want to "See You"
Our future clients want to see and hear from us, relate to us, and feel a bond before trusting in our services and products. Although that foot stretch routine still gets views today, I know now that it's not the way to attract clients for your Kajabi course. The good news is that there are plenty of options to show up as your authentic self that doesn't involve being in the spotlight 100% of the time.
Shine with Thoughtful Course Content
Would you rather do 100 push-ups than publish your picture on your Kajabi website? Or do you overthink or worry about what others might think about the course you sell or what you write? (Erm, what if my Pin attracts only people with a foot fetish?) I have good news for those of you who fear hitting the “publish button”. Here are 3 ways that can help you get out of your comfort zone without feeling exposed so that you provide great content for your Kajabi course clients.
1. Play to Your Strengths
Write down what you’re good at and focus on demonstrating those skills. Can you explain complicated topics in a relatable way? What a fabulous skill to have for creating content for your online course. Or are you patient and caring when teaching yoga poses? Show photos of you helping a student with adjustments and you have the perfect snap for your sales page. Does the thought of filming a video alone fill you with dread? Then ask a friend or real-life student to be part of your video. You likely will feel natural teaching someone else, you don’t have to constantly look straight into the camera or remember a script. Rather, you’ll come over as an authentic, caring person teaching whatever it is you do.
2. Take Baby Steps
Do you get nervous recording videos? If you’re particularly camera shy, record in Canva where you have the option of using audio or appearing in the little floating circle. Then you can stop worrying about your outfit, backdrop, or shade of lipstick and get on the fast track to creating content for your course. Or if recording yourself is a step too far, perhaps blogging and writing newsletters are more in your lane of expertise. Whatever medium you choose, start small. The more you hit the record or publish button, the easier and more routine it feels.
3. Share Your Ups and Downs
Dare to be a little vulnerable with your audience. I don’t mean to share your innermost feelings, rather show up as your real self. Are you struggling to write your newsletter because your child is sick, the dog is begging for a walk, and you’ve been too busy to get to the supermarket? Then share that with your readers. Believe me, they will relate. Or if it takes three hours of filming to create one 15-minute segment, surprise your audience with bloopers at the end. They’ll be happy to know that even the experts lose their balance holding a pose, bake a souffle that doesn’t rise, or get tongue-tied now and again.
Celebrate
I won’t lie to you. Personal growth as an online entrepreneur will take you out of your comfort zone from time to time. The key is to keep moving forward and discover what clicks between you and your clients. One last tip: Don’t forget to stop now and then to look back at how far you’ve come, and celebrate your personal growth just as you would your financial growth.
